However, boylovers have
found more personal ways to celebrate the day,
“Many boylovers get together with their young friends or
with other BLs for some special activity. Others spend the
day online with friends, or write poems or stories. Many
take the time to light a blue candle in public or in
private. Others reflect on past BL friends and the boys who
were once in their lives, or who are presently in their
lives. There is no right or wrong way to observe IBLD.”
In more developments, boylovers have disagreed over
the inconvienece of two IBLD’s during the year, and
exactly how it should be celebrated, leading Dave Riegel, a
renowned boylove activist and principle moderator of
SafeHaven, and a private boylover by the nick of Etienne,
to establish their own IBLD websites on the topic. Recently
though, the controvery has been reduced, a poll that
came out on Dave Riegel’s site in the late summer of 2005
expressing how a majority was in favor of celebrating
Boylove day on the winter solstice and the spring solstice.
At any rate, lets try to make the next observation of
IBLD a really memorable one, whether in this community, or
personally in our own lives. Regardless of how we
personally celebrate it, let’s make sure that boylove candle
is never extinguished by the prejudice and hate of people
who oppose our love. Let’s keep it lit year after year.
